Bohemian Rhapsody – Start of 1975 Studio Recording celebrated

On the 24th August 1975, Queen started recording the monster hit “Bohemian Rhapsody” at Rockfield Studios in Monmouth, Wales. The now classic track was recorded over three weeks and released in October 1975. Queen singer Freddie Mercury had mentally prepared the song beforehand and directed the band throughout the sessions. Brian May, Mercury, and Roger Taylor sang their vocal parts continually for ten to 12 hours a day, resulting in 180 separate overdubs (so much  so, the tape was almost clear of oxide as it was used so much).
